Behind the Scenes: The Virtual Production Process

This music video represents a breakthrough in independent visual arts. Although we created it entirely in a garage studio, the production utilizes cutting-edge Virtual Production technology. As a result, the video transports the viewer into a surreal world without ever leaving the room.

Furthermore, we built the visual pipeline specifically for speed, efficiency, and high-fidelity aesthetics:

• First, we modeled all locations, 3D assets, and environmental elements from scratch using Blender.

• Next, we imported the 3D world into Unreal Engine to create the lighting, atmosphere, and real-time backgrounds.

• Then, we filmed using a green screen setup in a compact studio space. Specifically, we utilized precise camera tracking data to sync the real-world camera moves with the virtual environment.

• Finally, we achieved the final polish in The Foundry’s Nuke. We used the tracking data to seamlessly composite the live-action green screen footage with the Unreal Engine renders. Therefore, we could handle all keying and visual effects to create a unified, cinematic look.

Ultimately, this workflow proves that with the right technology—specifically the power of Unreal Engine and Nuke—complex visual storytelling is faster and more accessible than ever before.
